I was holding an exhibition with a colleague of mine at Design Festa vol.52 in Tokyo for two days, specifically on the 7th and 8th of November 2020. We was using the big booth together, by splitting it vertically half.
We had made preparations for an individual exhibition sponsored by LUXE Inc. to promote the company and brand, with ourselves as creators.
We had decided on the theme for our display respectively. I made products to sell with an original mascot named "ABOPO", with the theme of a sustainable lifestyle in mind.

I made a key visual for my show.
Though I'm actually a flexitarian and tried to settle the theme on "Vegan", I reconsidered and changed it into "Sustainability and SDGs" because it’s more familiar to the Japanese than "Vegan".
I eventually named the exhibition "ABOPO and Sustainable Life".
I read books and researched about SDGs(Sustainable Development Goals) at the same time as I was creating productions, illustrations, a cartoon to explain SDGs, sustainability, and plant-based life in a way that is easy to understand.
My production included:
①100% plant-based food wrap(textile design/coating with Candelilla wax, Jojoba oil and resin/ package design)
②Bamboo straw(logo design)
③Mini letter writing set(illustration)
④Tattoo sticker(illustration)
⑤Reusable bag and drawstring bag(illustration)
I also made other things such as my business card and flyer.
I was having butterflies in my stomach worrying whether I could finish making it all or not !

a look of my display

My illustrations were also sold.
There were many processes involved in making a "100% plant based food wrap" like ordering products, organizing a company to print my original textile designs on the cloth and getting them cut to the right size. Then there was coating the fabric with a mixture of Candelilla wax, Jojoba oil and resin and printing the logo for the package myself, etc.
I also had to consider and judge whether or not the selling prices were appropriate considering my costs.
Though it was honestly tough, I was so excited about creating products I had really wanted to make for a long time.
On the day, I got very good reactions from visitors including people from abroad.
I thank visitors for buying my creations and commenting about them in person. I had a great experience which sets me up well for my future as a creator.
My heartfelt thanks to my company for such an opportunity.
